The Opening Ceremony for 2016 international students was held on Nov. 4, 2016, in Room A3-203 at Panyu Campus. Vice President Liu Jinbao, relevant administrative staffs and international students of 2016 class attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Lu Jiachun, the Dean of School of International Education.
Jana and Apana from India spoke separately on behalf of the new students and the senior students. On behalf of the faculty, Professor Zhao Qian expressed the earnest hope to the new students.
Vice President Liu Jinbao delivered a speech on the opening ceremony. He extended a warm welcome to all international students and made a brief introduction of GMU’s history and tradition, as well as the achievements of international students’ education. He said that GMU always spared no effort to provide international students with qualified education resources as well as a favorable learning and living environment, he hoped that students could adapt the college life and start the intellectual journey as soon as possible, he also made three recommendations for the new students, to find an intellectual pursuit and put the whole soul into it, to make full use of the rich resources to learn how to learn and to get to know the teaching faculty and learn from them.
11月4日，我校2016级留学生开学典礼在番禺校区A3-203教室举行。学校刘金保副校长，教务处、学生处、团委、基础学院、国际教育学院等相关职能部门及二级单位负责人，2016级全体外国留学生新生及在校留学生代表参加了开学典礼。典礼由国际教育学院吕嘉春院长主持。
来自印度的Jana 和Apana分别代表了留学生新生和在校生发言。教师代表、公共卫生学院赵倩老师代表留学生授课教师向留学生新生表达了殷切的希望。
刘金保副校长代表学校对2016级留学生新生的到来表示欢迎，向新生们简要介绍了学校的基本情况和留学生培养情况。他指出，近年来我校留学生规模日益扩大，留学生培养层次已从本科生扩展到硕士、博士，学校一直致力于为留学生提供更优质的教育资源和创造更优良的学习生活环境。他希望留学生新生能尽快适应广医的生活和学习环境，开启广医求学之旅，并对新生们提出了三点建议：发掘自身学习的激情并全身心投入；抓住并利用机会，学会如何学习；多和老师交流，虚心请教。
