On October 25-26, 2018, the Chinese government scholarship students of our school, Guangzhou Medical University participated in the “Explore China” series of activities sponsored by the China Scholarship Council for the first time. The “Explore China · Experience Chinese Medicine” cultural experience camp is hosted by Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guangzhou. A total of 100 Chinese government scholarship students from 25 countries listened to traditional Chinese medicine health care lectures, visited the Guangdong Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum, Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Guangdong Province, Old Xiguan and Chinese medicine pharmaceutical company to experience Chinese medicine, in order to understand China's excellent traditional culture and achievements in rapid development.

Traditional Chinese medicine is "the precious wealth left to us by our ancestors", "the treasure of the Chinese nation" and the "key to open the house of treasures of Chinese civilization." Through lectures, hospital and laboratory visits and hands-on experience, the event will enable international students to experience Chinese traditional medicine and enhance their understanding of traditional Chinese culture, thus promoting the integration of different cultures and promoting exchanges and friendships between countries.

The first activity of the experience camp was the lecture on Chinese traditional medicine and culture presented by Professor Chen Yu, "Chinese Medicine Winter Health". From the basic concepts of TCM healthcare, to the winter diet and winter health care, he introduced the methods of maintaining good health during winter.

The second activity of the exploration of Chinese medicine culture was called the "King of Medicine". The students came to the Guangdong Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Guangdong Province. In the Hospital, international students experienced a variety of traditional Chinese medicine treatments such as fire dragon moxibustion, thunder fire moxibustion, cupping and moxibustion. After experiencing the fire dragon moxibustion, an international student couldn’t help but say “I feel so so so good!”. The fire on the back of the student from Africa ignited the passion of spreading the excellent Chinese traditional culture to all corners of the country.

On October 26th, the third station of the experience was reached: experience the “Old West Pass” style. International students visited Chen Clan Academy, Guangzhou 13 Hongs Museum and Xiguan Historical and Cultural Street in Liwan District to learn about traditional crafts such as folk sculpture art in Guangdong and the modern history of Guangzhou as “a key location for domestic and foreign trade”.

The last activity of the experience camp was to visit Guangzhou Zhixin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. This company is a Chinese medicine enterprise integrating research and development, production, processing and wholesale sales and distribution. Here, international students visited the production workshop, online pharmacy and specimen museum, learned about the standardization process of Chinese medicine decoction ingredients, and learned the high-tech content of Chinese medicine companies.

On the afternoon of October 26th, at the closing ceremony, our PhD student from India, DATTA SOHAM (大红龙) expressed gratitude and presented the testimony on behalf of Guangzhou Medical University and led all the students to study the "eight pieces of brocade qigong" of Chinese medicine health care exercise.
