On Jan. 20, 2015 international student scholarship awarding ceremony and 2016 Spring Festival celebration were held at GMU. Prof. Donghai Wei(the vice president of GMU), Prof. Jiachun Lu (the dean of international education), teachers of School of International Education, together with over 140 international students who stayed at school during the festival attended this celebration.

During the scholarship awarding ceremony, 10 students won the scholarships. Two of them won the “Distinguished International Student Scholarship of MOE” of academic year 2015 to 2016, and it was the first time for international students of GMU won this prize. The 8 others won “Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship” in 2015. Prof. Wei awarded the certificates to all winners. Aparna Parameswaran Nampoothiri and Mosha Silas Sethiel, on behalf of winners shared their study experience. Aparna Parameswaran Nampoothiri said the scholarship was a great encouragement for herelf, she would study harder to build up a solid foundation for future career. Mosha Silas Sethiel shared his learning experience, to set a goal and never give up. Prof. Wei made a speech and gave congratulation and encouragements to scholarship winners. He pointed out GMU would spare no effort to provide students with qualified education as well as a favorable learning and living environment. He also hoped that students could have great aspiration and cherish learning time.

After the ceremony, a gathering dinner was held to celebrate the upcoming Chinese Spring Festival. Prof. Wei made a toast on behalf of GMU and hoped students would have a happy Spring Festival here.

我校举行2015年度留学生奖学金颁奖仪式暨2016年留学生春节座谈会

1月20日，我校举行2015年度留学生奖学金颁奖仪式暨2016年留学生春节座谈会。魏东海副校长、国际教育学院吕嘉春院长、国际教育学院有关教师及寒假留校留学生共150余人参加了活动。

此次颁奖仪式对分别获得教育部、广东省有关奖学金的共10名留学生进行了表彰。其中，2名留学生获得2015/2016学年教育部优秀留学生奖学金，成为我校首次获得该项奖学金的留学生；8名留学生获得2015年度来粤政府留学生奖学金。魏东海副校长为获奖留学生颁发奖学金荣誉证书。

在颁奖仪式上，Aparna Parameswaran NampoothiriMosha Silas Sethiel作为获奖留学生代表分别发言。Aparna Parameswaran Nampoothiri表示，此次获得奖学金给了自己很大的鼓励，今后将会更加勤奋努力学习，为以后的职业发展打下良好基础。Mosha Silas Sethiel分享了自己在我校学习过程中的体会，建议留学生们明确目标，坚持不懈，为不断提升自己的专业素养而努力。魏东海副校长代表学校向获奖留学生表示祝贺，对留学生们过去一年在学习中付出的努力和取得的成绩给予了肯定。他表示，学校将继续提升办学条件，确保留学生教育质量，同时也希望留学生们珍惜来之不易的学习机会，努力钻研专业学习。

在颁奖仪式后举行的留学生春节座谈会上，魏东海副校长听取了留学生关于学习生活情况的汇报，以及对我校留学生教学、管理等方面的意见和建议，就一些问题进行了现场答疑和说明，并代表学校祝福全体留校留学生度过一个喜庆祥和的中国春节。
