A 8.1 magnitude earthquake struckNepalnear the capital ofKathmanduat 2:11 pm on Apr. 25, 2015, causing massive injuries and devastation. The huge disaster not only caused great grief for the Nepalese students but also touched both teachers and students’ heart in GMU.

On the 7^thof May, 2015,SchoolofInternational Education,SchoolofDentistryStomatologyand Youth League Committee of GMUtogether helda series fundraiserfor the victims of earthquake which hitNepalon the 25^thof April.Stalls for donation were put up in front of the canteen in Panyu campus at 12:00noon till 1:00pm and the activity was resumed again from 5:00pm till 7:00pm.The teachers and students there donated generously.Instant pictures were taken with banners and sold for 20 RMB, which was also put into the donation amount. At 7:00pm, candle light vigil was heldand then thestudents lit candles and prayed forNepal.

Great love is beyond countries. The fundraiser was lasted two days in GMU and raised20490.8 yuan totally. Nepalese students expressed their sincere thanks for teachers and students’ donation and we hope all Nepalese can face the griefand disaster bravely and rebuild home soon.

我校组织活动为尼泊尔地震灾区募捐

4月25日14时，尼泊尔发生8.1级地震，造成重大人员伤亡和财产损失。严峻的灾情不仅给我校尼泊尔籍留学生带来巨大的悲痛，同时也牵动着我校师生的心。

5月7日，我校国际教育学院、团委、口腔医学院联合组织的为尼泊尔地震灾区募捐系列活动在番禺校区食堂前举行。本次募捐活动以自愿和记名的形式展开，广大师生纷纷到现场捐款。许多捐款师生没有留下名字，他们表示，灾难敲击着每个人的心灵，他们只是希望伸出援手帮助尼泊尔灾区人民。尼泊尔留学生还在现场进行了照片义卖，他们和中国学生一起将蜡烛围成圆形，把祝福纸片放在蜡烛旁，逐个点燃蜡烛，传递爱心，并为在地震中的逝者默哀、祈福。

灾难无情人有情，人有国别爱无疆，此次募捐活动在我校持续两天,共募得善款20490.8元。我校尼泊尔籍留学生对广大师生的奉献表示由衷的感谢，师生也祝愿尼泊尔人民能勇敢面对伤痛，早日重建家园。
