Holi isa spring festival also known asfestival of colours. It is celebrated on the full moon day lasting for 5 days. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships. Regarding this festival inMANIPURyouths celebrate a dance calledTHABAL CHONGBA. This dance was performed in the moonlight accompanied by folk songs. The music is rhythmic beating of drums accompanied by other instruments. It is performed in every locality on all the five days of the festival. As soon as the moon rises over the hills the flute, the drums and the cymbals starts pouring out music. The boys and girls in a circle clutch each other's hands with rhythms of music slow and fast, high and low, up and down.
On March 15th2014,Manipuri’scelebratethabal chongbaat GMU. Many students were there including some students from other university and also some Chinese students. All the students gathered at around 5:30 pm and started the dance. Though the dance reminds us of our hometown, we enjoyed a lot. The dance was ended with a grand success. And thank you GMU for giving us this wonderful opportunity.
