10月19日上午，我院留学生应邀参加口腔医学院第三届学生运动会暨“国口齐竞技，运动筑友谊”趣味运动会，口腔医学院唐敏仪老师、庄碧贤老师、于淼老师、我院范熙老师参加了运动会。运动会共有运动员145人，其中口腔医学院运动员98名，国际教育学院运动员47名；有“极限竞技无国界”之男女跑步、跳远、跳高比赛和“趣味体育筑友谊”之拔河、二人三足和滚雪球团体比赛项目共14项。可谓是一次阵容鼎盛的国际化运动盛会。
首场比赛“拔河”，一下子就把热烈的竞技气氛推上高潮，全场同学欢呼雀跃为参赛队伍尽情地加油鼓劲。活动过程，同学们不分学院、不分国界、不分人种，赛出成绩、赛出风格、赛出国际友谊，充分体现了“国口齐竞技，运动筑友谊”的活动主题。
本次运动会，我院留学生获得了拔河比赛、滚雪球比赛的团体第一名，来自印度的留学生Insan和来自尼泊尔的Ajun分获男子200米的第二名与第三名。
口腔医学院是我校国家化办学实践的重要基地之一，今后我院将继续加强与口腔医学院的合作交流，促进我校国际化办学工作的顺利开展。
Sports Meet 2013

October 19th2013 dawned a bright and beautiful day. It was the day of the Sports meet which was hosted by the School of Dentistry to which the School of International Education was graciously asked to participate in. We of course were only too happy to do so and about 48 of us took part in various events. The meet started off with a bang as we obtained our first ever victory in the Tug of War. It was simply exhilarating, joyous and uplifting to be a part of it. Spectators commented on our strength and while that was true, it was more attributed to our sheer strength of will and determination that connected and made us work together to attain that much long awaited victory. That and some very sore muscles, but it was worth it.
Several of our members next participated in the Women’s and Men’s 100m and we must congratulate Insan and Arjun who placed 2ndand 3rdrespectively for their outstanding performance. Immediately after that was the three legged race which boasted our very own Puja and Bidyashwori as well as Mosha paired with a Chinese friend. They showed us the meaning of perseverance because even though they stumbled and fell, they got right back up on the horse so to speak and allowed us to place third when otherwise we would have simply not placed at all. Other events that the school of international education participated in included the 1500m race, high jump, long jump, relay and of course snowball. It must be said that snowball was one of the most entertaining sights of the entire day. Well that is besides the time that Chinese pair of boys in the three legged race simply stopped racing at one point to pose for the camera before continuing. The School of International Education took first place in Snowball due to the excellent teamwork and cohesion of five upper-class men. It was like an excellent game of “Snake” brought to life and they made it look soo easy. In reality it was a lot harder than that as was demonstrated by the next team’s turn, though they made blunders, they perservered till the end and that is admirable. For those events that we did not place in everyone should also be congratulated and with hard work and practice the next sports meet will go much more smoothly.
In addition to the awards mentioned above, the School of Internation Education also received the Award for Excellent Team Spirit and the participation award. Thus the Sports meet ended on a high note for us. The slogan for the meet was “Competition has no boundaries, Sports build up friendship”. And like the slogan says we came, had lots of fun, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, made many new friends and pushed ourselves to do our very best in all the events. Most importantly, we learnt the meaning of perseverance and teamwork which are absolutely vital, not only for events such as the Sports meet but for everyday life. It was so much fun we are already looking forward to the next Sports Meet.
